Altamaha-ha has been reported to live in the Altamaha River of southeastern Georgia for centuries. The aquatic creature is described between ten and thirty feet long, snake-like with a pair of front flippers, a snout of an alligator and sharp teeth, a long neck and its gray or green body "as round as a barrel.

A large statue of Altie is featured in the Darien Visitor Center. Check the web site for hours -- though you can see Altie through the storefront's plate glass windows, too.
