This World War One German Trench Mortar is located in Pelham Centre in the park in front of Old Pelham Town Hall. The "Minenwerfer" was captured by the 31st Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force in Neuville-Vitasse, France on June 23-24 1918. It was awarded to the Township of Pelham in 1921 as a War Trophy by the Government of Canada in honour of the men from the community who lost their lives in the Great War.
