This German machine gun is located on a World War I memorial in Gooderham, Ontario. Dedicated in 1921, the memorial honours 4 men who died in the war.
The gun is likely a German Maxim Spandau MG 08 or a variant of that. Whether it was captured during battle or confiscated post-war is unknown.
