The need for a new parish is given by the great growth of the City towards this area, which makes the pastoral care of the faithful very difficult from the parish of San Jorge to which they belong.
The services to attend the faithful of this neighborhood had been held in the old chapel of Santa Lucía, but when they moved it to the Travesía del Monte, they went to that of Santa Margarita, in the Orzán area.
The problem was there, that is why Cardinal Martín Herrera decides to create the Parish of Santa Lucía on June 1, 1890. From its creation, all parish life takes place in the chapel of Santa Lucía de la Travesía del Monte until the inauguration of the current Church.
The first stone was laid on August 20, 1899 and the Blessing and inauguration on March 28, 1913.
Little by little the ornamentation with the different altarpieces was completed; the last and, without a doubt, the most valuable was that of the presbytery, which was built in the years 1957-1958.
In 1993, on the anniversary of the laying of the first stone, after a series of remodeling works, the Consecration and Solemn Dedication to the Lord was carried out.
It is noteworthy in the History of the Parish the work of social and cultural promotion, proof of this is the creation of totally free Parish Schools.
The stained glass windows, imitation of those used in the fourteenth century, stand out for their beauty and polychrome.
The altarpiece of the presbytery is all centered on the Eucharist, it is of extraordinary beauty, as well as a precious Eucharistic catechesis.
