Slaughterville is located along Highway 77 about three miles south of Noble. This is an agricultural community. The Fire Department shares a metal building with the Town Hall at this location.
Establishing their own fire department was the primary reason the town of Slaughterville was formed. They did not want to rely of fire protection from neighboring towns. The department was begun in 1976, shortly after the town was organized. There are 22 volunteer firefighters (6 of whom are State Certified Instructors). They operate 4 tankers, 4 brush trucks, 2 engines and a utility truck. In 2005, the Fire Department was voted “Best Volunteer Fire Department in Oklahoma” by the Best of Oklahoma Living reader’s survey.
