In the comic strip "Crude Dude" Zippy chats with Paul about being crudely misshapen, but a "Fine example of privative folk art". Having spent a fair amount of time in and around Akeley for a lot of summers I can tell you that no matter what Zippy has to say about Paul's mustache, it is the finest giant mustache in the area.
