Svenskerne får således skyld for at have skamferet Kristusfiguren med flere dybe hug.

English: In Vissenbjerg church is the remains of a medieval crucifix. Opposite the pulpit hangs a large crucifix on the north wall - or what's left of it. Stylistically, it is late Gothic with a few younger features. The figure of Christ is probably carved in the late 15th century.

The crucifix may have been part of the church altar before the acquisition of the current altarpiece around 1525. After the Reformation in 1536, the crucifix was deposited on the church ceiling and first came to light again in 1907, where it was placed in a niche by the organ, in 1999 to get up and hang in its current place.

That the old figure of Christ today almost appears as a torso, must be attributed to the many years of inappropriate storage conditions, and that it did not escape the ravages of the Swedish soldiers in the parish during the Swedish war 1658-59. The tradition will know that the church had to provide shelter for both soldiers and their horses. The Swedes are thus blamed for having mutilated the figure of Christ with several deep blows.
