The Lehigh Fire Dept. is a volunteer service. The town of Lehigh, 5 miles south of the county seat Coalgate, was originally settled in 1877 as a coal mining community. Its peak was in the first two decades of the 20th Century, after which it declined with the closing of the mines. Today, there is no school, no railroad, and just a few citizens.

The fire department is located in a one-story metal building which it shares with the town hall. There are three overhead vehicle doors. We were unable to find any source material on the size or scope of this department. There is an outdoor warning device mounted on a wood pole just south of the building.
