The Nolan Watson Memorial Park honors a man who was prominent in the town of Coalgate. He was born 2/10/1916 and passed away 8/4/1885. The park gazebo and improvements were funded by his wife Carolyn, and the Rural Oklahoma Community Foundation she founded.
This is a beautiful area, one building wide, running through from S. Main to Frey Street. At the entrances on either street are two low brick garden walls, with shrubs and flowers. Land for this park was donated by Louis and Iva Jean Pasquali and Warren K. Powell.
On the Main Street side is a two-sided town clock, and at the center of the park is a large brick gazebo. The gazebo is surrounded by low brick walls and pillars, and it stands on a concrete pad. There are two tiers to the metal roof, with a screened area between to give light inside the gazebo. A cupola and weathervane top the roof. A free standing picnic table sits in the gazebo for visitors to enjoy the scenery.
