Originally carrying traffic both directions, on a two lane roadway. US-281 was expanded to a 4 lane and a new bridge was constructed on the east side of the truss bridge. The new two lane bridge carries the northbound US-281 traffic and the rehabilitated truss bridge carries the two southbound traffic.
