The Coalgate Fire Department is located in the two story brick Public Safety Building at 3 S. Main. The offices are in the public safety building, and attached on the south are four vehicle bays with segmented glass overhead doors. A Smokey Bear sign stands in front showing the fire danger status for the day. The FD sticker is located on a wood bench at the front of the building.

In checking several fire department websites for the state, we found conflicting information about the size of this department. One site showed 7 paid and 18 volunteer firefighters. Another site showed 16 full-time paid, 12 part-time paid and 25 volunteers. We believe the first set of numbers is likely correct based on the size of the town.

The department has a Facebook page which shows it is active in the community, with training classes, community events, and they are very proud of Zoey, their arson dog in training.
