John "Buck" Hoggatt died at the age of 26 and is laid to rest in Highland Cemetery.

Highland Cemetery is located two miles south of Stonewall. Buck Hoggatt's headstone is located in the northwest part of the cemetery. The Find a Grae website has a short obituary for John Hoggatt, which we quote here:
"John Hoggatt, a well known farmer in Union Valley neighborhood, died Tuesday night of pneumonia. The body was interred at Stonewall cemetery Wednesday. Deceased was in the very prime of life and was a man whom everyone respected. His character was well exemplified during the various Liberty Loan and war work campaigns when he always insisted on paying more than the quota assigned him by the committee. He leaves a wife and one child to mourn his untimely passing."
His headstone is a vertical slab with the Woodmen of the World seal. It stands on two base stones, with the top one engraved with the surname HOGGATT. A large horizontal log lies at the top. The inscription is engraved on the face of the slab and reads:
