First Presbyterian Church is located on the northeast corner of 25th and Western. The church is a jaw-dropper - a large white stone Gothic building. The sanctuary runs north-south along Western, with a two-story classroom wing, and another two-story attachment on the east with a large chapel. Built in the mid-1950's, the church has 73 stained glass windows and four working pipe organs, and seats 1400.
Atop the sanctuary is a tall metal steeple, the top of which can be seen for many miles. Speakers can be seen in the open framework, as there is a carillon which sounds on Sunday mornings. The sides of the church buildings and the steeple are beautifully lighted at night with spotlights.
