The plaque says, "In memory of the California Pioneers. Bear Gulch, the home of Oso. In 1779 Father Font Camped here on his way to Monterey. Dedicated by Ontario Parlor No 251. Native Daughters Golden West October 12, 1932."
The relief shows the expedition of Father Front in a wagon carriage as he moved towards Monterrey from this location. The San Gabriel Mountains can be seen in the background. The relief is roughly 5 inches wide and 2 inches tall. Assuming by the date on the plaque, it has been here since 1932.
