This cave is part of a fascinating volcanic complex around Black Ridge Crater in the vast desert of southeastern Lincoln County, Idaho. Exit Highway 24 at Sid Crossing to travel a dirt road for about 16 miles into the desert. You will pass an abandoned farm field and then a water tank on your right before arriving at three collapsed sections of a lava tube below Black Ridge Crater on your left. An ATV trail to the top of the crater goes right past the cave, but the gated cave sits in a recessed crevice and probably would not be noticed by high speed ATV riders.

The cave has a short ladder made of rebar steel below the iron gate. The gate has a large central bar that slides in and out of a pipe and can be locked in the closed position. The US Bureau of Land Management uses the gate to control access to the cave and its petroglyphs. We found the gate unlocked.

There is a geocache about 100 feet east of the cave in the depression of a collapsed section of a lava tube.
