Official blazon In a field of azure, on rocks of its color, a silver tower (representing the Tower of Hercules), masoned and clarified with saber, covered with a gules lighthouse, and accompanied by seven gold scallops, placed three on each flank and one pointed; brushing on the rocks, a silver skull, crowned with gold, attached to two tibias of the same metal placed in a cross.
Origin: The town was founded long before Roman times. The arms show the tower of Hercules, a famous lighthouse in the city. The scallops are the badges of St. James (Santiago). A Coruña is close to Santiago de Compostela and many pelgrims came ashore in the harbour of A Coruña.
