Walter Spix (* 17. Juni 1894 in Mönchengladbach; † 9. August 1942 im Konzentrationslager Dachau) war unter dem Ordensnamen Alfons Spix Superior und Vizeprovinzial der Arnsteiner Patres im Kloster Arnstein an der Lahn.

Mit 25 Jahren trat Walter Spix in die Kongregation der Arnsteiner Patres ein, wo er den Namen Alfons annahm und 1925 zum Priester geweiht wurde. 1928 übernahm er in Niederlahnstein das Amt des Superiors im Johanneskloster. Nach fünf Jahren rief man ihn 1933 in die gleiche Funktion nach Arnstein zurück. 1938 wurde er zum Vizeprovinzial der deutschen Ordensprovinz gewählt.
Als Klostervorsteher in Arnstein geriet er mit dem nationalsozialistischen Unrechtsstaat in Konflikt. Da er die gesetzlichen Bestimmungen nicht kannte, ließ er polnische Zwangsarbeiter an Gemeindegottesdiensten teilnehmen und gestattete, dass sie an der Klosterpforte Frühstück erhielten. Er wurde deshalb 1941 von der Gestapo verwarnt und nach erneutem, wohl unbeabsichtigtem Verstoß gegen diese Vorschriften am 19. November 1941 verhaftet. Anfang 1942 überstellte man ihn ins KZ Dachau. Dort starb er am 9. August 1942, vermutlich an einem Darmleiden.
Alfons Spix war kein aktiver Widerstandskämpfer. Eric Steinhauer nennt ihn im BBKL als ein Beispiel dafür, welches Risiko jene Christen während der NS-Zeit eingingen, die weiterhin den Maßstäben christlicher Nächstenliebe folgten.
Die römisch-katholische Kirche hat Alfons Spix im Jahr 1999 als Glaubenszeugen in das Deutsche Martyrologium des 20. Jahrhunderts aufgenommen.

At the age of 25, Walter Spix entered the congregation of the Arnstein Fathers, where he took the name Alfons and was ordained a priest in 1925. In 1928 he took over the position of superior in the Johanneskloster in Niederlahnstein. After five years he was called back to Arnstein in the same position in 1933. In 1938 he was elected Vice Provincial of the German Order Province.
As the head of the monastery in Arnstein, he came into conflict with the unjust Nazi state. Unaware of the legal requirements, he allowed Polish forced laborers to attend church services and allowed them to have breakfast at the monastery gate. He was therefore warned by the Gestapo in 1941 and arrested on November 19, 1941 after another, probably unintentional violation of these regulations. At the beginning of 1942 he was transferred to the Dachau concentration camp. There he died on August 9, 1942, presumably of an intestinal problem.
Alfons Spix was not an active resistance fighter. Eric Steinhauer names him in the BBKL as an example of the risk those Christians took during the Nazi era who continued to follow the standards of Christian charity.
In 1999 the Roman Catholic Church accepted Alfons Spix into the German Martyrology of the 20th Century as a witness of faith.
