This large anchor on permanent display at Academy Field honors the tricentennial of town founders in East Greenwich, Rhode Island. A massive cast iron stockless anchor, it rests on the shoulder and crown aligned on a north-south axis. The shank extends upward at a 45-degree angle towards Narragansett Bay in the east.

A cast bronze plaque mounted to its truncated prism foundation reads:

1677 - 1977
DEDICATED TO
THOSE WHO INCORPORATED THE
TOWN OF EAST GREENWICH, RHODE ISLAND
ON OCTOBER 31, 1677
AND TO THOSE
WHO HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO ITS PROGRSS
OVER THE PAST THREE HUNDRED YEARS

PLAQUE DONATED BY THE INDUSTRIAL NATIONAL BANK
