The road to and through this area was once a stage coach route to
El Paso, TX, with a stage house operated by Elias and Martha Queen. The stage would stop here to rest the horses from the climb up the mountain and prepare for the steep descent down the other side. All that remains of the stage stop is a tall rock chimney. This cemetery of about one hundred graves (including those of the Queens and one of their daughters) is all that remains of the settlement. However, the cemetery is still active, with several burials just a few years ago.
