The plaque says, "1853 Two-story adobe with an upper-level balcony built by James W. Robinson for his residence and law office.
1857 After Robinson's death in this year, building developed into the town's commercial seat, house the San Diego Herald newspaper, the Wells Fargo Office, and other businesses.
1868 Bought by Louis Rose for his business and residence.
1989 Reconstructed by California State Parks."
