"According to legend, in 1665, Simón de Toro and Bartolomé de la Peña, residents of the Alcázar Viejo, found a curb of a well while plowing in a farm next to the Puerta de Sevilla. In one of its crevices, these farmers found a small image of a Virgin. Quickly, the news spread among the neighbors, who saw healing powers in the well water. Likewise, sick visits multiplied."
