On the West end of Main Street, just north of the former Santa Fe railroad depot now occupied by Mulvane Historical Museum, is a small park filled with memorials and historical artifacts. Just south of the railroad caboose this marker consists of the original upper wall of Nessly Motor Company, with its Ford logo.

On the adjacent brick pillar is a bronze plaque recording the history of this company, and its owner Harry Nessly. It reads:

NESSLY MOTOR CO.
Harry C. Nessly started sellihg Ford Model T's
in back of a Harness Shop located at 109 W.
Main in 1909. In 1917, he built a new building
just east of the Harness Shop. The Nessly name
was added at the top of the brick building and a
Ford logo was set in tile at the entrance.

Harry had trouble getting new Fords in 1927,
thus he changed the agency to Chevrolet.

Harry passed away in 1948 and the dealership
was passed on to his son, Jack, who ran the
company until 1959. It remained a Chevrolet
dealership until 1966.

Other businesses used the building until it was
destroyed by fire in January, 1999. The name
and the logo were rescued.

Harry Cartwright Nessly was married to Jenny
Catherine Shelly, daughter of Mulvane's first
doctor, Solomon Thomas Shelly. In 1917
