The municipal offices of Mulvane are located at the corner of W. Sedgwick Street and N. 2nd Avenue. The town of Mulvane was first established in 1879 as the hub of five intersecting rail lines. The town was primarily an agricultural town.

Mulvane City Building is a one-story brick and metal building, with a very shallow sloped hip roof. the building is segmented with multiple roof sections. Built on a slight hill, the east end has a partially exposed area below the ground level.

Mulvane has a Mayor/City Council form of government, with the day-to-day operations of the city run by the City Administrator. There are five Councilmen who meet and 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month at 7:30PM in this building. It is also home to the Mulvane Municipal Court, as well as several of the town's governmental departments.
