"Evart's Homestead

This site is believed to be the homesite and final resting place of Mr.Evart (Evitt) who, repotedly was the first white settler in Allegany County.

He came here in the early 1700 to escape civilization and live as a hermit

The remains of his farm with it's stone fences, well, and orchards can be seen on the mountain that bears his name.
