The figure of this pioneering woman, a tireless defender of human rights, is linked to Ourense, a city she has visited on numerous occasions. It is therefore not surprising that the sculpture that pays homage to her today, the work of Aniceto Marinas on the pedestal of Parada Justel, was one of the first to be installed in Spain after her death. The work was inaugurated in 1898 in the gardens of the Alameda, and then moved, not without much controversy, to its current location, in front of the old courts, recalling its important role in criminal matters. With the transfer the original pedestal disappears.
