This is an old traditional Portuguese washing house in the boundaries of a village named Purgatório, in southern Portugal.

This washing house is located not far from the centre of Purgatório, a village in southern Portugal by the road EN 395.
It's of easy access and there is also on the spot an ancient draw well. There are eight washing stations. It's a covered washing house, providing shelter from the rain and sun to the people washing. It was recently renovated but it's not commonly used anymore.
