County of school: Franklin County
Location of school: MO-E, St. James Evangelical Church grounds, Stoney Hill

Cornerstone reads:

E.V. ST. JAKOBI G.S.
1901

Building built in 1901, got that from the cornerstone. The school was called St. Jacobi, or today's St. James, and was probably taught in German.

I can find no web footprint, but, typical of German communities a the turn of that century, like the Catholics & Lutherans, the Evangelicals wanted their children taught religion from their point of view, and wanted the children to view the world with that frame or reference.

Technically this building is in Franklin County. The church and part of the cemetery are in Gasconade County. The county line runs through the church property.

Year of construction: 1901

Cross-listed waymark: [Web Link]

Full inscription:
E.V. ST. JAKOBI G.S.
1901
