La maison Lespérance a une bien modeste origine: en 1844, alors que le noviciat occupait la maison Chaboillez, la communauté décide de construire un hangar de pierres en face de la maison des novices. Des 1847 toutefois, le bâtiment est allongé de neuf mètres et change de vocation: il abrite une résidence et un commerce et prend, grosso modo, l'allure extérieur qu'on lui connait aujourd'hui.
