The three storey squared rubble bluestone Mortlake Flour Mill was constructed in 1856 as a wind powered mill, new owners in 1857 installed a steam engine and erected the square plan stone chimney. The mill continued operating until the 1940's for the milling of horse and cattle feed.
The existing bluestone complex includes a main mill building and adjoining annexe, and a chimney, also remaining are the engine mountings, a well and a wrought iron tank from the early period of the steam mill,
