The 150 Mile House Volunteer Fire Department was formed in 1981 and provides fire protection and first responder services to the area.
There are 28 members that include reserve and auxiliary: 1 chief and 2 deputy chiefs, 5 captains, 1 lieutenant and 24 valued firefighters.

In house NFPA 1001 training and certification to our firefighters. They have 11 firefighters certified and more currently achieving their certification.
150 Mile House Volunteer Fire Department aided in provincial responses, during the wildfires in 150 Mile House (2017), Alexis Creek (2010), Lillooet (2009) and Kelowna (2003). Members of their department also spent time in Whistler as part of the fire protection team during the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.

It is interesting to note that the 150 Mile House Volunteer Fire Department has a large area behind the fire hall that also serves as the Community Hall. The fire hall has two and possibly three bay doors. It is a one story building with white vertical siding. It has a red tiled peaked roof.
150 Mile House has approximately 4,575 residents and is referred to as "the 50". It is in the Cariboo region of British Columbia and is located 15 km southeast of Williams Lake on Highway 97.
150 Mile House has an interesting history, it was an important stop on the Cariboo Wagon Road during the Cariboo Gold Rush. The name marks the distance from Lillooet via the Old Cariboo Road. It is the junction for roads to the communities of Likely and Horsefly to the northeast. There are about nine communities that are still named for the distance from Lillooet along the Old Cariboo Road.
