Sankt Bendts Kirke er bygget omkring 1150 og var oprindeligt en klosterkirke.
Næst efter Roskilde Domkirke er det den kirke i Danmark der har flest Kongegrave. Valdemar den Store, Knud 6., Valdemar Sejr, Erik Menved og Erik Plovpenning ligger begravet her.
Den gamle vandpumpe ved døren i nordsiden af kirken er ca 1 meter høj og lavet af jern. På bagsiden af pumpen sidder håndtaget til at pumpe vand. Pumpen virker ikke længere og hvor gammel den er, er uvist.


St. Bendt's Church was built around 1150 and was originally a monastery church.
Next to Roskilde Cathedral, it is the church in Denmark that has the most royal tombs. Valdemar the Great, Knud 6., Valdemar Sejr, Erik Menved and Erik Plovpenning are buried here.
The old Hand Operated Water Pump at the door on the north side of the church is about 1 meter high and made of iron. On the back of the pump is the handle for pumping water. The pump no longer works and how old it is is unknown.
