The plaque says, "Built by Hugh McConville around 1890. In 1909, the 50 X 100 foot building was called the palace livery stable, with Frank Hall as proprietor. There were 25 stalls containing "Stylish and Speedy Rigs" and two automobiles with twenty-horsepower engines. For a time, the town's only switchboard was located here. The building was badly damaged in a woodstove explosion and razed in 1912."
