The statue of singer Cilla Black is located outside the original entrance to the world famous Cavern Club on Mathew Street in Liverpool city centre.

The life-size bronze statue of Cilla Black was unveiled on 16th January 2017 outside Liverpool's Cavern Club as the venue celebrated its 60th anniversary.
The Cavern Club, credited with launching the career of The Beatles, opened its doors on 16th January 1957 as a jazz cellar.
The 1960s singing star and TV celebrity Cilla Black started work as a cloakroom attendant at the club.

The statue was commissioned by Cilla Black's sons Robert, Ben and Jack Willis as a small gesture of gratitude to the city of Liverpool for the outpouring of love for their mother.

The sculpture was created by Emma Rodgers in collaboration with Andy Edwards from Stoke-on-Trent and cast at the Castle Fine Arts Foundry in Liverpool.
The statue measures 6.6ft tall and weighs 130kg and is standing on top of a bronze CD made to look like her hit single You’re My World. It depicts a young Cilla with her arms outspread wearing a chequered mini dress that features images from the her life in the squares that portray the fabric of the dress. Her pointed shoes have four straps fastened with buttons and low heels. There is a flower on the base of the sculpture and depicts an anemone from Cilla and Bobby’s wedding bouquet.

Cilla Black
Priscilla Maria Veronica White known as Cilla Black was a British singer, actor, TV presenter, and author.

She was born on 27th May 1943 in Vauxhall, Liverpool, to John Patrick White and Priscilla Blythen.

She always wanted to become a musician and showed glimpses of her talent when she started working at Liverpool’s ‘Cavern Club.’ She worked part-time in the club’s cloakroom. The club was famous for its association with ‘The Beatles,’ and during one her shows, she managed to impress the band’s members.

She started her career in 1965, with the release of her debut album, ‘Cilla,’ which was a big success.
Her manager was Brian Epstein, who was also The Beatles' manager, and she was the first female recording artist to be signed by Epstein.
Throughout her music career, she released 15 albums, including ‘It Makes Me Feel Good’ and ‘Surprisingly Cilla,’ and attained international success.

In 1969 she married Bobby Willis,they had three sons Robert, Benjamin, and Jack. Her eldest son, Robert, eventually became her manager.

Along with managing a successful singing career, she hosted her own variety show for ‘BBC’ named ‘Cilla’ between 1968 and 1976.

Later, she became a successful TV presenter. She hosted a number of popular shows, such as ‘Blind Date,’ ‘Surprise Surprise,’ and ‘The Moment of Truth,’ between 1985 and 2001.

In 1997 she was awarded the OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in the Queen's New Year Honours List for services to entertainment.

Cilla Black died on 1st August 2015, following an accident in her villa in Estepona.
Her funeral was held at ‘St. Mary’s Church’ in Liverpool on 20th August 2015.
