The Red and white painted Obelisk was erected at Cape Dombey (originally named Cape Iannes)in 1852. The pyramidal Obelisk 13m high and may be seen from seaward for up to 18km. It is 30m above sea level. The obelisk was the only navigation aid for vessels entering Guichen Bay until a lighthouse was built nearby in 1972.
