English: Kongehøjen or Voldstedlund long dolmen is one of Denmark's most beautiful long dolmens and best preserved stone dolmens from the Peasant Stone Age. The place is open for visits during the day from six o'clock to sunset.

One of the country's most stately and most impressive megalithic monuments, but its 2 well-preserved chambers and the unusually beautiful curbstone chain. Langdyssen was built as a burial and cult facility in the Neolithic 5500 years ago.

According to an old legend, a king named Volf was buried in the mound, and from this springs the name of both the mound and the nearby farm. Legend has it that Volf´'s queen was buried in the nearby Kjelderhøj. The Kongehøj name can also be found in several Danish dolmens, burial chambers and burial mounds.

Excavations in 1961 and the subsequent restoration of the long dolmen showed that it was built in the Funnel Cup culture in the middle of the Peasant Stone Age around 3,200 BC. It was thus erected long before Denmark in the Viking Age became an actual kingdom. What is particularly impressive about the long dolmen is the almost intact curbstone chain with a total of 62 stones along the foot of the mound, as well as the two very well-preserved burial chambers that the mound hides. Part of the reason why the dolmen is so well preserved is that it was voluntarily protected as early as 1892, and perhaps also in the fact that according to folklore, people could be very upset if they broke the stone circle around the dolmen or otherwise abused it.

The construction of the 52 m long, 22 m wide and up to 3 m high earth mound which seals the two stone-built burial chambers has been a gigantic, collective work, and can - as has been argued from many sides - also be seen as a manifestation of the territory and boundaries of the local tribal community.
