The San Antonio shrine that is part of the Shoenstatt Movement of San Antonio is one of several such shrines in and around Bexar County. There is a sister Schoenstatt Shrine in Helotes, TX, that is in the NW part of the metropolitan area of San Antonio. On the website of the Schenstatt Movement of San Antonio, this San Antonio shrine titled Schoenstatt Catholic Wayside Shrine at its physical location is listed online by the Movement as the "Fountain of Family Unity Wayside Shrine" which is given the same address at 302 Ave Maria, San Antonio, TX 78216.

This Wayside Shrine is a small, modest building on a large lot at a bend in the middle of the Ave Maria street on which the Shrine is found. There are some shade trees growing in front of the raised porch which leads to the main entrance of the Shrine. A few weather proof benches and chairs offer a place of peaceful meditation outside the Shrine. A small sign on the front of the Shrine gives the following information about the hours of operation::

"Open Daily 9am - 8 pm
Tuesday 7pm Rosary
1st Tuesday of the Month
Eucharist Adoration
7pm - 9pm"

Inside the Shrine are two rows of several pews leading up to the alter. On the walls are icons representing the Stations of the Cross, spaced out between the pew seats. On the back wall, and above the entrance/exit doorway, is a shelf displaying the birth of Jesus as a traditional manger scene and some angels and saints in separate alcoves on the outer edges.

The Shrine is kept clean and neat inside and is well cared for outside were a large cross formed by various manicured plants are seen upon entering the grounds from the entrance off Ava Maria street.
