Village sign near All Saints' church, Besthorpe, erected for the millennium. There is no plaque, but the wooden post surmounted by the sign is dated 2000.
The sign depicts a knight on horseback with a lance, and represents one of the few surviving tilting grounds in England, located at Besthorpe Hall. The windmill was one of very few not built of brick, but was built of clay lump, a common building material used around this area - During WWII it was deemed to be too much of a landmark for the Old Buckenham airfield and was blown up by the Americans. The church of All Saints which stands apart from the village if also featured, along with the river which is a tributary draining into Shropham Fen.
