"The Tennessee Polytechnic Institute, on the northern edge of town, is a State institution with a four-year technical curriculum that leads to the bachelor of science degree. The 20-acre campus, attractively landscaped, is supplemented by two farms: one of 67 acres adjacent to the campus and another of 75 acres one-half mile north. In 1932 the school's herd of Jersey cattle set a world record; each cow produced an average of 601 pounds of butter fat. The brick buildings, which form a quadrangle, are of modified Georgian Colonial design and have stone trim." --- Tennessee A Guide to the State, 1949.
Tennessee Polytechnic Institute (TPI) is now Tennessee Technological University (TTU). The two farms are no longer adjacent to TTU. The quad and the majority of the buildings are still here in some form.
