DE: Die zwischen 1730 und 1733 Plänen von Francois de Cuvilliés von Michael Leveilly für Kurfürst Clemens August erbaute Kapelle Sankt Maria Aegyptiaca befindet sich etwa 130m südwestlich von Schloss Falkenlust. Der oktogonale Grundriss auf der quadratischen Grundfläche von 9m x 9m wurde durch ausgesparte Kreisviertel an den Ecken des Quadrates hergestellt, auf der nordöstlichen Seite ist eine kleine, quadratische Sakristei angebaut.
Nach der Fertigstellung des Gebäudes dauerte es aber noch bis 1740, um die Inneneinrichtung und Dekorationen, wie das Hochmeisterkreuz auf dem Boden, auszugestalten, so dass die Einweihung erst am 12. Juni 1740 stattfinden konnte. Wegen der Verwendung vieler vor allem kleiner Muscheln als Dekorelemente wurde die Kapelle bei der Bevölkerung als Muschelkapelle bekannt.
Die Kapelle befindet sich mit den Brühler Schlössern seit 1984 auf der Liste des Unesco-Weltkulturerbes.

EN: The chapel of St. Maria Aegyptiaca, built between 1730 and 1733 plans by Francois de Cuvilliés by Michael Leveilly for Elector Clemens August, is located about 130m southwest of Falkenlust Castle. The octagonal floor plan on the square base of 9m x 9m was created by recessed district quarters at the corners of the square, on the northeast side a small, square sacristy is attached.
After the completion of the building, it took until 1740 to design the interior and decorations, such as the high master's cross on the floor, so that the inauguration could not take place until June 12th, 1740. Because of the use of many especially small shells as decorative elements, the chapel became known to the population as the shell chapel.
The chapel and the Brühl castles have been on the Unesco World Heritage List since 1984.
