At the entrance into the parking lot of the Columbus Club Hall at 111 Landa Street, New Braunfels, TX, is a large red granite monument on which the Ten Commandments are engraved on the front side and the Beatitudes are engraved on the back side. Surrounding this monument are donor bricks and a small gray granite marker stating this was an Eagle Scout project completed on March 6, 2010 by Daniel "DJ" Haack. This same marker at the base of the monument also stated this monument was a memorial to Msgr. Edward Bily. The marker reads as follows:

"A Memorial In Memory of
Msgr. EDWARD BILY
Eagle Scout Project by
Daniel "DJ" Haack
March 6 2010"

This whole setting of monuments, plaques and donor bricks is found at the entrance to the Knights of Columbus parking lot of the Columbus Club Hall. The Scout Project is placed along the boundary line of the property and about 50 feet from the curbside along Landa Street. Because of the heavy traffic flow along Landa Steet at the curve in the road were this entrance is, drivers can easily miss seeing this monument display even though it is in plain sight. However, the placement is well chosen because this Scout project is easily seen from the road from some distance away all the way to it. Two concrete benches have been placed along the concrete walkway surrounding the monument. Inside the sidewalk surround are red bricks with donors names or dedications engraved on them. The gray granite plaque telling of the Eagle Scout project and of the dedication to Msgr. Bily is discretely placed in the middle of the base stone on the side of the Ten Commandments, which faces toward the parking lot.

The planning and design of this Scout project appears to have been well thought out. It has been 10+ years since the completion of this monument setting and it still looks to be in excellent shape and durable for years to come.
