Cet hôtel particulier fut construit pour la famille Peyronetti à la fin du xvie siècle par l'architecte Paul Lombard1.

Au XVIIIe siècle, l'immeuble passa aux Miollis, dont sont issus Mgr Bienvenu de Miollis (qui inspira notamment Victor Hugo pour le personnage de Mgr Bienvenu Myriel dans Les Misérables2) ainsi que le général Sextius de Miollis, qui y est né le 18 septembre 1759.

Après la Révolution de 1830, il y fut créée une société politique du nom de « La Cougourde », car une courge avait été trouvée dans l'appartement où la société allait s'installer.

Ce bâtiment fait l’objet d’un classement au titre des monuments historiques depuis le 21 mars 19833.

Architecture
La façade originelle fut remaniée en 1620 par l'architecte Jean Lombard, sur le modèle de celle du château de La Tour-d'Aigues (1580).

La porte sculptée en noyer est entourée de bossages vermiculés. Son imposte est ornée de guirlandes sculptées aux quatre mufles de lion.

Les fenêtres du premier étage sont encadrées de pilastres doubles et les ferronneries des balcons datent du xviie siècle. Des bucranes ornent les frises du premier étage1.

Le rez-de chaussé est dit d'ordre toscan rustique et il fut fortement remanié entre les XVIe et XVIIIe siècles. Ses ouvertures s'agrémentent d'arcades surmontées de clés aux petits mascarons sculptés XIXe siècle. Les ouvertures correspondent à d'anciennes remises transformées en boutiques à présent. Ces ouvertures sont encadrées par des pilastres doriques à bucranes.

À l'origine, l'immeuble ne comptait qu'un seul étage; le XIXe siècle lui en ajouta un second et des persiennes.
EN History
This mansion was built for the Peyronetti family at the end of the 16th century by the architect Paul Lombard1.

In the 18th century, the building passed to the Miollis, from which Bishop Bienvenu de Miollis (who notably inspired Victor Hugo for the character of Bishop Bienvenu Myriel in Les Misérables2) as well as General Sextius de Miollis, who was born there on September 18 1759.

After the Revolution of 1830, there was created a political society called "La Cougourde", because a squash had been found in the apartment where the company was to settle.

This building has been classified as a historical monument since March 21, 1983.

Architecture
The original facade was altered in 1620 by the architect Jean Lombard, on the model of that of the castle of La Tour-d'Aigues (1580).

The carved walnut door is surrounded by vermiculated bosses. Its transom is adorned with garlands carved with four lion's muzzle.

The windows on the first floor are framed by double pilasters and the ironwork on the balconies dates from the 17th century. Bucranes adorn the friezes on the first floor1.

The ground floor is said to be of a rustic Tuscan order and it was significantly altered between the 16th and 18th centuries. Its openings are decorated with arcades surmounted by keys with small 19th century sculpted masks. The openings correspond to old discounts transformed into shops now. These openings are framed by Doric pilasters with bucranes.

Originally, the building had only one floor; the nineteenth century added a second and shutters.
