The Cape Nelson lighthouse and accompanying houses were built in 1883 and comprise the lighthouse keepers houses, store and generator shed. The Cape Nelson Lighthouse was built of bluestone in 1885 and stands 50m above sea level and is 35m high, the white group light flashes four times every twenty seconds can be seen from 39km. The station was automated in the 1990's ending an era of lighthouse keepers dating back to 1884. The lighthouse keepers cottages are now available for holiday rentals
