The Fort de Lantin, built in 1888, is one of the twelve forts established for the defence of Liège, Belgium at the end of the 19th century on the initiative of the Belgian General Henri Alexis Brialmont. Unlike the French structures of the time (see Séré de Rivières), the fort was built almost exclusively in concrete (non-reinforced), a largely unknown material. The fort was heavily shelled by German artillery during the Battle of Liège in August 1914. It was not rearmed like the other Liège forts and therefore retains its original characteristics. It has become a museum and can therefore be visited.
