The Ecoduct (

'The Ecoduct (opened on 29 October 2013) has connected National Park Dwingelderveld with the shifting sand area Terhorsterzand.
In this way more eastern located nature reserves in Midden-Drenthe, including Estate 'de Vossenberg' in Wijster are also connected to the Dwingelderveld.
Thus the badger, adder, polecat, ermine, weasel, stone marten, red vole, roe deer, hazelworm, frog, viviparous lizard, grass snake and ground beetles can cross the A28 safely. And in the longer term, perhaps also red deer and wild boar.'

The Marine from Westerbork was in a tracked vehicle that hit a roadside bomb in the Afghan province of Uruzgan in April 2010. Corporal Jeroen Houweling (29) from Purmerend was also killed. A viaduct over the A7 near Purmerend will soon be named after him.'
