The church is located at the intersection of Banff Avenue and Buffalo Street in the downtown core. It was built in 1927, one of the first churches built under the banner of the United Church of Canada, officially recognized in 1925.
It replaced a Methodist church on the site, built in 1886 as the first church in Banff.
Rundle Memorial United Church is named after Reverend Robert T. Rundle, the first Christian missionary to arrive in Banff. Rundle did not begin a congregation here but his influence is much acknowledged in the area.
