An 15th century effigy and tomb chest in St George's church, Lower Brailes. It is badly decayed, having been outside in the churchyard most of its years, although the tomb chest itself is in quite reasonable condition, with very nicely carved blank arcading around the base. It depicts a figure with hands in prayer and with the feet against a (headless) lion. It is thought to be a priest in mass vestments (Robert Bandy, Vicar 1433 - 1455), although local tradition likes to see it as an older tomb of a crusader.
It was bought inside the church in 1933, to prevent further erosion and decay.
Approximate Age of Artefact: 1455
