SUSTRANS is a charity that works with local councils to promote sustainable transport and is responsible for a nationwide network of cycle and walking routes and in some cases horse riding.

Some of the routes are along roads, but wherever possible they are off road, making use of such things as canal towpaths, former railways and riverside paths.

A nearby information board has the following information.
2 Bridges Greenway
Linking Chesterfield, Sheffield and Rother Valley Country Park.   Part of the National Cycle Network

Making Connections
The 2 Bridges Greenway is a walking, cycling and horse riding route linking the Chestefield Canal towpath with Sheffield Supertram station and the Rother Valley Country Park. It's a great traffic-free route for everyone and links to the Trans Pennine Trail.

Sustrans: Bringing you the National Cycle Network

Co-ordinated by the charity Sustrans, the National Cycle Network is made up of thousands of safe and attractive walking and cycling routes throughout the UK, including the Trans Pennine Trail.

It's a great way to collect fresh air miles on the way to work, school, the shops or anywhere else. Find more routes near you at www.sustrans.org.uk

Local heroes
These sculptures are part of a national artwork celebrating local heroes. Communities across the UK chose characters to represent them. Sit and enjoy the company of three people who made a difference to this area.

Corporal Liam Riley
Born in Sheffield Liam Riley served with the 3rd Battalion, the Yorkshire Regiment. He was twenty-one when a roadside bomb in Afghanistan tragically killed him when he was trying to save a friend's life. Prince Harry, his friend and colleague, described Liam as a 'legend'.

Colin Savage
Colin was a steel worker for thirty three years. He has worked tirelessly for local people and is well known as a champion of good causes. His passion for walking motivated him to raise funds and support to improve local footpaths and routes to make the countryside accessible to everyone.

Clinton Woods
Born in Waterhope, Sheffield, Clinton first became interested in boxing aged seven. His subsequent fifteen year career saw him hold British, Commonwealth, European and World titles. He was the light heavyweight world champion boxer between 2005 and 2008. He retired from boxing in 2009.
