Het monument werd onthuld op zondag 19 september 2004 in aanwezigheid van de veteranen van het Suffolk-regiment, dag op dag 60 jaar na de bevrijding.
Het monument in arduin is symbolisch opgevat als een V voor Victory in het Engels, vrijheid en vrede in het Nederlands.

Op de gedenksteen staat in het Nederlands en het Engels de volgende tekst:
"In honour of those soldiers of the 3rd Infantry Division of the 2nd British Army engaged in the Market Garden operations and killed in battle for the liberation of Sint-Huibrechts-Lille on September 19th 1944.
Their supreme sacrifice shall be remembered, their commitment for freedom and peace never be remitted."

"In dankbare herdenking aan de soldaten van de 3de Infanterie Divisie van het 2de Britse leger, die in het kader van de operatie Market Garden hun leven lieten in de strijd voor de bevrijding van Sint-Huibrechts-Lille op 19 september 1944.
Wij zullen hun hoogste offer altijd herinneren als een bijdrage voor vrijheid en vrede."

The monument was unveiled on Sunday September 19th, 2004, in the presence of the veterans of the Suffolk Regiment, exactly 60 years on the day, after the liberation. The monument, made out of freestone, symbolizes the V for Victory. (‘freedom’ and ‘liberty’ in Dutch are also written with a V).
On the memorial plaque the following text has been inscribed in both Dutch and English:
