The plaque says, "As a bicentennial community, Garden Grove participated in observances of the nation's 200th anniversary in conjunction with a celebration of the city's 20th anniversary.
The garden grove bicentennial commission was appointed by the garden grove city council to coordinate events with the theme of pride in country and community. Selected in July 4, 1976 and formally approved by the American Revolution Bicentennial Administration."
