The maps are of a standard format and are normally
mounted on a tall black pillar but this one appears to be attached to a
board. The "you are here" is located at the centre
of the lower map. A circle is drawn, with the "you are here "
at its centre and indicates a distance equal to a 5 minute walk. The
upper map shows a circle the equivalent to a fifteen minute walk
with "you are here " being at the centre.
The map is orientated head-up so that the top of the
map indicates the direction ahead of where the map is being viewed from.
For those that like to know where "north"
is a directional arrow is set into the ground at the base of the pillar.
The map has a hidden grid with letters across the map
and numbers down the map. A list of streets and landmarks are shown
below the map with grid co-ordinates, for example "C3 ",
indicated to allow the location to be found easily.
